Large-screen mobile devices are already being used by millions of people, and with the advent of the iPhone 6, there are going to be a lot more.  A large percentage of this audience will be using their devices using one hand, so designers will need to optimize for these users' natural thumb movement and reach.

Redesigning the Fire Hydrant

The Spartan by Sigelock improves upon the centuries-old design of the fire hydrant.  Virtually indestructible, the Spartan is made of stainless steel and ductile iron, and covered in a powder coating that prevents corrosion even in the face of storms and salty water. Its internal drainage system sports an efficiency that prevents damage  from freezing water. And it can be opened within seconds using a special wrench, which discourages water theft and vandalism.

Last week I had the great opportunity to travel to Madrid, Spain.  During that time, Instagram released the Hyperlapse app.  The activity in Madrid makes it the perfect place to capture time elapsed video.  Here are a few of the Hyperlapse videos I captured there.

If you ever get the chance to go to Madrid, I highly recommend it.  ¡Viva Madrid!
